As part of the DUHS IRB’s ongoing effort to improve processes, promote consistent review practices, external IRB studies will now bypass the standard Reproductive Risk Specialty Committee review. Instead, reproductive risk language will be reviewed by DUHS IRB staff as part of the local context considerations. DUHS IRB staff will continue to review consent forms and study submissions as they always have and, when applicable, will request revisions to reproductive risk language using the standardized language and expectations established by the Reproductive Risk Specialty Committee, DUHS IRB, and School of Medicine Research Administration. The DUHS research community can help reduce additional back-and-forth and mitigate potential delays by incorporating the DUHS recommended reproductive risk language (in the Reproductive Risks and Contraceptive Measures section) into the consent form, when applicable, before submitting to the DUHS IRB.
