Translation Requirements for Research

The DUHS IRB has released a new policy, “Translation Requirements for Research”.  The policy describes requirements related to the informed consent process in research involving participants who speak a language other than English. Provided within the policy are translation requirements, documents needed for IRB review, and the appropriate use of the short and long form consents.

This policy replaces the now archived policies, “Research Involving Non-English Speaking Participants” and “Use of Short Form Consent”.

The Short Form consent forms have also been modified to remove the Person Obtaining Consent signature lines.  This is for consistency with the revised policy.
