IRB-1175 Undergraduates Conducting the Consent Process

This policy defines the conditions under which Duke undergraduate students (i.e., work-study, unpaid, or engaged in research for class credit) may conduct the informed consent process in human subject’s research as Key Personnel. It ensures students are properly trained, appropriately limited to studies suitable for their experience, and overseen by qualified Duke faculty and staff, including the Principal Investigator, so that the consent process is conducted ethically, competently, and in compliance with DUHS IRB and institutional requirements.
