We are excited to welcome the IRB's newest staff members.
Karen Hawkins joined the IRB in October as a Writer/Specialist. She was previously a Research Coordinator in the School of Nursing and has been at Duke since 2010. Karen will be providing specialist coverage across multiple CRUs and will be working with the boards to record and convey committee decisions.
Ronna Zimmer is the IRB’s newest compliance specialist. Ronna was formerly a CRC III in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and brings extensive regulatory experience. She will be working with the IRB compliance team to ensure board consistency and regulatory requirements. She will also be working as the IRB Specialist for the Ophthalmology and Dermatology/Pathology CRUs.
Debbie Hickey joined the IRB as a Senior Specialist. Debbie was formerly the Lead Coordinator for the Electrophysiology Cluster of the Heart Center CRU. She will be working as the IRB Specialist for the Anesthesiology and Surgery CRUs. She will also support 2 board meetings per month.
