The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' and fifteen other Federal Departments and Agencies’ revisions to the Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects (the Common Rule, 45 CFR 46) were published in the Federal Register on January 19, 2017. Most of the new regulations will take effect January 19, 2018. For the short term, the fate of the Final Rule is uncertain, pending review by the new administration.
