About the Department

 
Scope
The Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board (DUHS IRB) has responsibility for the review of research involving human subjects for the Duke University Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Durham Regional Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, and Duke Primary Care.
 
Organization
The DUHS IRB office has 13 full-time employees and 11 part-time employees, including 11 Chairs, the Executive Director, and 12 staff persons.  IRB members are drawn from various disciplines across DUHS and the surrounding Durham/Triangle community.
 
IRBs
The DUHS IRB has oversight of 9 convened IRBs, of which 8 meet monthly in Hock Plaza on the first, second, third and fourth Wednesday and Thursday afternoons of the month.  Please select the Meeting Dates link for details.

Review and Processing Time for a New Study
